Welcome
The Strathclyde Engineering Scholars programme was created to transform outcomes for students from the most socio-economically challenged backgrounds and to provide a scalable model that other universities can adopt.
Our programme supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter, succeed in, and graduate from university engineering degrees, confidently stepping into professional careers alongside their peers.

We help students develop the personal and professional skills they need to thrive in the engineering field of their choice, through:
-
Senior years support
Academic tutoring in maths and physics and personalised mentoring whilst in senior years at high school to build academic confidence
-
University mentoring
Guidance through foundation years with academic development support
-
Industry mentoring
Mentoring from industry professionals in final year to prepare for the workplace
“If I didn't have my tutor for advanced higher physics I don't think I would have passed because there just wasn't teaching time otherwise”
“I decided to take part in the Engineering Scholars program to help people, academically, but also in terms of confidence and from a mentoring point of view being able to build up students' confidence before coming to university”
“With the experience I've gotten from this program, I've managed to get other teaching type roles, tutor type roles outside of the university that I do now as well”
